Dr Eleanor Hitchen is an advanced trainee in cardiology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where she combines her clinical experience and research background to provide care for patients with cardiac conditions. She holds a basic science PhD in Medicine from the University of Sydney, specialising in HIV pathogenesis and aspires to be a clinician-researcher, developing innovative therapies that directly benefit her patients in the areas where cardiology and infectious diseases intersect.
Eleanor is a Clinical Lecturer with the University of Sydney and is very committed to medical education. In recognition of this she was awarded the Tara Mackenzie Award for Best Educator in 2024. She actively contributes to the education of medical students and junior doctors through various teaching roles. Eleanor is also passionate about leadership and volunteer work, contributing to initiatives that support migrant communities and education for high school students. Fluent in English and Spanish, she is dedicated to fostering a compassionate and holistic approach to patient care.
